Dipped hems
April 4, 2012
Dramatic, feminine and unusual - this year's big trend for spring is dipped hems.
Dipped hems create an incredible silhouette - dipped hem dresses tend to stay high at the front and plunge at the back. It's like wearing a long dress with most of the front cut out.
Sounds odd - it's actually quite a beautiful look. There's many ways to wear dipped hems, whether it's for a party, barbecue or work - and this style can help create a great look no matter your shape or size.
If the idea of exposing your legs fills you with dread, you can always combine a dipped hem dress with some colourful tights, or even wear it over jeans in a nod back to the boho style of the late 90s.
Either way, a dipped hem dress is unlikely to already be in your wardrobe: it's definitely something you should consider splashing out on this summer.
There are many different takes on the dipped hem including dresses, skirts and tops - all of which can make some fabulous outfits.
If you are looking for a perfect summer dress, then you may be interested in a pastel yellow asymmetric hem dress. With lightweight, flowing material, this can look great on an evening when combined with simple jewellery, a sequin clutch and some gorgeous heels.
To achieve a casual day look, you may want to try combining a pair of deep navy coloured jeans, a dip back blue sleeveless shirt, some simple bangle bracelets, flat gladiator style sandals and a leather shoulder bag.
Another great daytime look you may want to go for, with a little more colour, combines a cream mesh shoulder dip hem top, a pair of pastel coloured skinny trouser, a pair of flat pumps, and a bold coloured bag.
For a really feminine, girly look, grab an outfit such as a coral orange chiffon dip hem skirt, a crisp white lace top, black strap heeled sandals and some dressy accessories to complete the look.
If you are not keen on long skirts, then you may want to try a shorter pink mesh dipped hem skirt, this can be great when combined with black court shoes, a black top, some stylish jewellery and a small shoulder bag.
