Creating the most festive of spaces

Tinsel, tinsel and more tinsel? If you’re need of some interiors inspiration that goes beyond glitter and fairy lights, look no further. We challenged some of the UK’s top bloggers to decorate a room with festive flair on a budget of £100 shopping and collecting points through as they went along their merry way.

Here’s how they got on…

Fritha – Tigerlilly Quinn

Fritha decided to add some magic to her kids’ bedrooms with some bright and colourful decorations from Habitat. Picking up a playful artificial tree meant the children could have a tree to decorate for themselves, which ‘helps when I'm a bit of a control freak and find it hard to leave them to it on the main one.’ The robot decorations in particular were a big hot, adding an element of fun which they loved.

Heather - Growing Spaces

Not yet ready to put up her main tree and decorations, Heather opted for some versatile pieces that she could reuse in different ways each year, sticking to a ‘simple Christmas decorating style’ of white, silver and soft grey. Linking her Nectar card with eBay meant she collected bonus points on something she’d always wanted, her centrepiece of a pre-lit twig tree that could be used both indoors and outdoors in the future, and some glass hanging ball vases – her favourite purchase: ‘I plan to use them to create a mini seasonal display throughout the year.’ To finish off the look, she shopped through two of her other favourite stores, Habitat and House of Fraser, for a simple grey felt table runner that she used as a creative wall hanging, and some crockery to add a little festive cheer!

Liza Prideaux

Liza concentrated on setting her Christmas table, making it the central feature for entertaining over the festive season. Opting for timeless pieces that would suit her style, Liza shopped through Nectar with Laura Ashley for white and silver pieces for her décor – ‘it’s simple yet chic with a touch of sparkle’ – and managed to collect over 200 Nectar points along the way. Starting with a beaded table runner, she added ‘vintage yet modern’ wine glasses and ornamental. As these are just for decoration, Liza made sure the table was beautifully lit with a tree light and winter wreath – both battery-powered so no unsightly wires! Finished off with some sparkly crackers, the table is definitely dressed to impress.
