Terms and Conditions

1. Collect 2 points for every £1 spent on Virgin Trains East Coast tickets bought online through virgintrainseastcoast.com (desktop website & mobile website) or via the ticket vending machines at Virgin Trains East Coast stations.

2. Season Ticket holders can also collect 2 Nectar points for every £1 when purchasing season tickets providing the ticket meets the following qualifying criteria:
a)  The Season Ticket is purchased at virgintrainseastcoast.com, or a Virgin Trains East Coast Ticket Vending Machine (weekly Season Tickets only)
b)    The Season Ticket is a weekly, monthly or annual ticket.
c)     The journey covered by the season ticket is made between qualifying starting and destination stations and is ‘Route: Any Permitted’ (click here for details of which routes qualify).
d)    The Season Ticket is a full price adult ticket (excludes Child and Privilege tickets)

4. All journeys where a customer travels on a Virgin Trains East Coast train (whether for the whole journey or just part of it) are eligible for Nectar points. E.g. if a customer books a journey from Scarborough to Brighton (which would connect onto a Virgin Trains East Coast service between York and London Kings Cross) they would receive Nectar points for the entirety of the booking.

5.In order to collect Nectar points for eligible bookings, you must link your Nectar card to your virgintrainseastcoast.com account.

6. To link your Nectar card you must enter the last 11 digits of your Nectar card number when prompted during the booking process or alternatively click on ‘My Account’ and then ‘Loyalty Cards’ at virgintrainseastcoast.com. Once you have linked your Nectar card the Virgin Trains East Coast website will remember your details for future transactions.

7. If you are unable to input your Nectar card number on virgintrainseastcoast.com when making your initial transaction which is eligible for Nectar points, you will have 24 hours to return to the site to link your Nectar card to your Virgin Trains East Coast account to successfully collect the points you accrued on that transaction.

8. Points cannot be collected on any element of a transaction which is paid for by redeeming a National Rail Travel voucher.

9. Incorrect or invalid Nectar cards or Nectar card numbers will not be awarded points. Customers are responsible for ensuring the number entered is correct.

10. Points will appear on your account within 28 days of buying your tickets.

11. In the case of a refund the awarded Nectar points will be deducted from your Nectar account within 28 days of the refund. Where a change is made to your booking, the points collected will be increased or reduced based on the final transaction amount.

12. You will not be able to collect points on Virgin Trains West Coast routes on www.virgintrainseastcoast.com and you will not be able to collect points on Virgin Trains East Coast routes on www.virgintrains.co.uk, please ensure you are on the relevant website when purchasing your tickets to ensure you collect your Nectar points.

13. Virgin Trains East Coast reserves the right to: (a) withdraw at any time any Nectar points that were granted in the case of any fraudulent activity or in error; (b) withhold or delay issuing Nectar points; or (c) change these terms at any time.

Each voucher is valid to use at Virgin Trains East Coast for 12 months from date of redemption, the expiry date will be listed on your confirmation email.
 

Once claimed, your voucher will be stored in your Virgin Trains East Coast account until you choose to spend it.
 

Multiple vouchers can be applied to each purchase of Virgin Trains East Coast Advance tickets on the Virgin Trains East Coast website for travel on a Virgin Trains East Coast service.

Any remaining credit you have left after spending part of your voucher will be stored in your Virgin Trains East Coast account until its expiry date.
 

  1. Your chosen Virgin Trains East Coast voucher will entitle you to the cash amount of Virgin Trains East Coast credit which can be used as either full or part payment on Virgin Trains East Coast Advance ticket (travelling on a Virgin Trains East Coast service) transactions only made on the Virgin Trains East Coast website, click here to visit the website.
  2. Vouchers cannot be used to purchase any tickets or products other than Virgin Trains East Coast Advance tickets (travelling on a Virgin Trains East Coast service) on the Virgin Trains East Coast website, click here to visit the website. . The voucher can only be used against bookings made on the desktop version of the Virgin Trains East Coast new online booking engine (currently not the mobile retail site).
  3. Virgin Trains East Coast vouchers are not valid on promotional discounted fares.
  4. Multiple vouchers can be applied to one transaction on the Virgin Trains East Coast website, click here to visit the website.
  5. Vouchers have no cash value. Unused, lost, expired and redeemed vouchers cannot be refunded, exchanged or returned. This does not affect your statutory rights.
  6. Your voucher will be displayed on screen after you have redeemed your points at nectar.com and can be used immediately at on the Virgin Trains East Coast website, click here to visit the website (subject to these terms and conditions).
  7. A confirmation email will also be sent to the email address assigned to your Nectar Account within 24 hours. If you do not receive your confirmation email, call the Nectar helpline on 0344 811 0811.
  8. In order to spend the voucher you must create a new account on the Virgin Trains East Coast new website and add your Nectar card number through the ‘My Account’ page to claim your eVoucher. If you do not already have a virgintrainseastcoast.com account you can create one in advance, or at the time of making a booking.
  9. You can store your voucher in your Virgin Trains East Coast account by signing into the ‘My Account’ page of the Virgin Trains East Coast website, clicking on the ‘eVoucher’ section of the ‘My Account’ page, and then entering your voucher code into the relevant field. The voucher will then be stored in your account for when you are ready to use it.
  10. We recommend storing your voucher details to your Virgin Trains East Coast account as soon as you have received the voucher as you will not be able to view your voucher from your Nectar account.
  11. You can also use your voucher directly on the payment pages on the Virgin Trains East Coast new website provided you are logged in when selecting your Virgin Trains East Coast Advance ticket (for travel on a Virgin Trains East Coast service).
  12. Each voucher is valid to use on the on the Virgin Trains East Coast new website for a minimum of 12 months from the date it is redeemed at nectar.com. We encourage you to make a note of the expiry date when you receive your reward. Any expired vouchers will be removed from your account automatically upon expiry.
  13. If you do not spend the entire value of your voucher in one transaction, the remaining value will be stored in your Virgin Trains East Coast account until you wish to use on your next booking, or the expiry date, which ever date is soonest.
  14. You will be eligible to collect Nectar points on the full value of any element of any Virgin Trains East Coast Advance ticket transaction which has been part or fully paid for by redeeming points in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  15. All standard Virgin Trains East Coast terms and conditions apply.
  16. By exchanging your Nectar points for an voucher, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
